When you enter college, try to reduce the amount of starches that you eat during your freshman year. Typically, you will put on a lot of weight in the initial stages of college, as this will help you to counter that. Try to incorporate a lot of fruits and vegetables into your diet.
Before you choose what you'll major in when you go to college, take a look at what jobs are available in your area. You don't want to get out of school and only be able to get jobs that are below your skill level. Consider saving to relocate if you have to after getting out of school.

There is no one to wash your clothes and feed you anymore. Make sure you eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and keep yourself and your surroundings clean. Schedule your life to the hour to ensure you get everything done that you need to. Bad habits and a bad diet will affect both your health and your grades.
Always pay the balance of your credit card. This will keep you from incurring late fees. Generally, a credit card needs to only be used if you have an emergency. While you may wish to use it for entertainment, remember that you're at college to learn. Financial issues can distract you.
If you like to drink coffee, avoid buying coffee each morning. It's just too expensive. Make your own coffee. It's not as tasty as Starbucks, but it'll save you a ton. Getting a good coffee machine for cheap is easy if you just browse around for one.
Develop a system with your roommate for studying. Decide on certain quiet times each day for your dorm room so that it can be used for studying completely. If you or your roommate know these times, you can make the conscious choice to stick around or leave the room.
Write out a to do list the night before. This is a great way to help prep your brain for all the studying you have to do tomorrow. You'll wake up with a set of purpose instead of a sense of anxiety which will make your day that much easier to deal with.
